Acceptance is Etheria’s debut album. The album consists of songs composed from 2014 and picks up where A Vicious Cycle left off, expanding Etheria’s sound to new heights. Recorded at Nimbus School of Recording Arts and Media, Acceptance takes the listener through a blistering 39 minutes of intense music. Lyrically, the album focuses on personal struggle including identity, belonging, depression and self doubt.
The production of Acceptance took over 3 years, as the album was restarted over 5 times due to either setbacks or advancements in sound quality. Over that time, tragedy struck the band causing Jack to relearn how to play the drums. Despite this, Acceptance stands as an emotional and energetic debut for the band.
A Relentless Storm: The album begins with a high energy blast, taking listeners from melodic choruses, blistering thrash metal, and doom-inspired lows. A Relentless Storm was the first song composed for Acceptance, and it’s main melody serves as a recurring ‘album chorus.’ Lyrically, the song deals with resentment and denial.
No Dawn For Passing Skies: No Dawn was the first single for Acceptance, being released on September 30th. No Dawn continues the melodic tastes of A Relentless Storm, but adds on a layer of symphonics to heighten the atmosphere. Through tempo changes and complex riffs, No Dawn provides one of the hardest hitting instrumentals on the album.
A Broken Entity (Feat Hannah Norlin): A Broken Entity starts off with a gradual buildup, leading to a heavy-yet-catchy verse and chorus. The song takes an unexpected turn into a thrash metal breakdown before returning to the souring chorus, aided by Norlin, and a blues-inspired solo to play the song out. Lyrically, the song deals with loneliness and abandonment.
Tailspin: Thrash Metal.
Altitude: With Kyle taking over lead vocals on the song, the album takes an unexpected turn away from thrash metal and towards post-metal / metalcore. With one of the catchiest choruses on the album, Altitude keeps the listener headbanging along from beginning to end.
Oceans Red: The Jammiest song on the album, Jack’s infectious drum beat will (almost) have the listener wanting to dance. The song features a pop-punk inspired chorus, before taking a dark and twisted turn.
Restless (Feat Kassandra Richard): Restless is one of the earliest compositions on the album, providing A Vicious Cycle like riffage from beginning to end. Kyle and Kassandra share lead vocal duties on this song, with the vocal style providing an excellent contrast to the rest of the album.
Acceptance (Feat Waterfall Eyes) Acceptance is the summation of the album before it, providing musical callbacks, crushing riffs, an ambient interlude and a soaring outro to play the album out. Lyrically, the song deals with facing one’s reality and accepting ones choices and future.
